So, last week the team went downtown San Diego to check out some new residences being built — the super prime luxury building by Bosa which will probably be selling for at least $1,000/sf.
This week some of us are in New York and can’t resist checking out some of the real estate scene. Here are a few eye-popping things we saw to put it all in (some kind of crazy) perspective!
432 Park Avenue….$95 million, anyone??
In Cali we have vanity plates. In New York they have vanity addresses. This new residential building is the tallest in the western hemisphere and the second tallest in New York after only the new Freedom Tower (which we also checked out, by the way — the 9/11 museum is a must-see and very moving).
So this new building actually enters on 56th Street but the developers wanted the more chic and desirable Park Avenue address, so they got it. Interesting Bloomberg article on how that all works — but if you make a good case and pay enough money you can make it happen, apparently. Anyway, it’s going to be an amazing building and unbelievable views and amenities. And the big news recently was the sale of the penthouse for $95 million….here’s a link to take a peek inside one of the residences and see for yourself. Makes San Diego suddenly seem very affordable.
Slightly more affordable is the newer Lucida at 86th and Lex, near where we’re staying. Residences in this building are selling for about $2,000/sf with one current penthouse available at about $7,000,000. Built to take advantage of the 86tt Street shopping corridor and conveniences, the Lucida is just part of the higher upper east side’s continuing development and gentrification. (There was a time not all that long ago when the east 90s were considered adjacent to Harlem, but all of that seems to be changing, for better or not.)
And then here are just some random pics from a day walking around midtown east…including a tea break at the Lowell Hotel’s famous Pembroke room….we needed to regroup and collect our thoughts!
And just a lovely east 60s townhome….something to dream about!
